![]() ![]() ![]() Transferred Dittos from the Virtual Console games also had between 3 and 4 perfect IVs, making this method also unreliable. Unfortunately, the best we ever got was SOS battles, which could only guarantee 4 IVs. Everyone wanted a 6 perfect IV Ditto, and many methods were sought to obtain one. In Generation 6 and 7, when competitive breeding really took over, having a Ditto with multiple perfect IVs was extremely important. Many people forget however that Kanto contains the most important Pokémon to breeders in the entire franchise, Ditto!ĭitto can and has been bred with practically everything over the course of the Pokémon games. I mean, we're just talking about the original 151 Pokémon from Kanto, so it's kind of like the Virtual Console releases of Red, Blue, and Yellow. At first, this might not seem like that big of a deal. However, Generation 8 is going to bring back breeding, meaning having Pokémon in Let's Go with perfect IVs could be very valuable if they're able to be transferred into Sword and Shield. Let's Go removed breeding, thus making IVs less important. Now, IVs have always been important for both competitive battles and breeding. This significantly increased your chances of obtaining a legitimate perfect IV Pokémon. In Let's Go, the perfect IVs cap at 5 when chaining via catch combo. It's not necessarily easy, but it is certainly doable! In Sun and Moon, chaining via SOS battles gave you a maximum of 4 guaranteed perfect IVs, and the other two were left up to chance. ![]() So, what exactly does this mean? Well, for those of you who haven't played Let's Go, these are the first games where catching wild Pokémon with 6 perfect IVs is possible. Even if it's not compatible with games on the 3DS, it will still be able to transfer Pokémon from pre-existing titles on the Switch, by which I of course mean Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee! While I'm still not sure how we'll be able to transfer Pokémon from the Generation 7 games on the 3DS to Sword and Shield, I'm more certain that some variant of Pokémon Bank will be released for the Switch in 2020. I've been thinking a lot about the upcoming Switch games and what they could mean for the franchise, specifically in relation to the previous games. ![]()
