Then, as if to show that more good old days are coming, the duo swung into "Big Bang Boogie." Co-written by Naomi, the song appears on a four-cut compact disc of new Judds music. The Judds received a Grammy Award for the song, which was written by master tunesmith Jamie O'Hara. Later, she and Wynonna walked through the audience as they sang "Grandpa (Tell Me 'bout the Good Old Days)," a No. "You people are our kind of people, and that's why we wanted to start here in Denver," Naomi said. Now, they're back and Denver had them first. In a couple of months, Wynonna will be back on her own, and Naomi will continue her work as a motivational speaker, radio host and budding actor. But Naomi licked the illness, and is back with her daughter for one more tour. Wynonna struck out on her own when chronic hepatitis C forced her mother to retire. Longtime fans of the Judds vocally expressed their pleasure at having the duo back, as did new fans who came to the pair via Wynonna's successful solo career. The same old down-home friendliness flowed from the stage as the Judds moved into "Turn it Loose," from the 1987 album "Heartland." That was followed by "Girls Night Out" from 1984's "Why Not Me.'" ![]() "Welcome to the Judd house on a Friday night," Naomi told the crowd, which roared back its thank you. The Judds built a bridge and took the audience back with them for one glorious night. Back to the time she and daughter Wynonna, as the Judds, ruled over country music as one of its most-popular and best-selling duos. The calendar said 2000 but the music said 1990 - back before a life-threating illness forced Naomi to retire from music. And they brought the sold-out Denver crowd to its feet with the same song that ended the earlier performance - "Love Can Build a Bridge." The final few minutes of the Judds' 1991 farewell concert appeared on a huge screen Friday night at the Pepsi Center and opened the first concert of the mother and daughter duo's reunion tour.Īs the film wound down, Naomi and Wynonna appeared live on stage dressed in copies of the clothes they wore at the 1991 show. 5 - Their return mirrored their farewell. ![]()
